The Best Hackers movies of all time ( top 5 )

As a passionate computer person, it’s thrilling to watch movies that include computer hacking or hackers engrossed in their act. Even though many of these films don’t always show the actual thing, some can really stimulate, entertain, and motivate computer geeks!

I have selected top favorite five hacker films of all time and compiled them in the list below:

5) Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard

The fourth part in the Die Hard series will enthral all geeks because it surely enthralled me. The movie is about a group of cyber terrorists who scheme to break into FBI computer system and hack several other government used technological equipment. But due to Bruce Willi’s heroism and the help of altruistic computer geeks led by Justin Long (The Mac Guy), the film becomes truly entertaining and worth your time.

4) The Net

We see the stunning and talented computer expert Angela Bennett (Sandra Bullock) in this action packed thriller about cyber espionage. Bennett receives a disk from a friend right before leaving for a vacation. The information contained in the disc changes her fate as she finds out that all the records of her existence are wiped out. In this thriller, we move with her in her struggle of acquiring a new identity and discerning what and why this had happened to her.

3) Sneakers

Sneakers is a film that will definitely keep you on your toes as you experience the story of Martin Bishop (Robert Redford). He is the leader of a group of specialists who examine defense systems. His story takes a twist when Martin succumbs to bribery by Government agents and agrees to steal a clandestine box. We witness a game of danger and conspiracy as the team discovers that the box has the means to decipher every encrypted data in the world. And on top of that, they discover that the agents who have appointed them to get this box are not even part of the Government!

2) Tron

Tron is the ultimate movie for computer geeks as it revolves around the story of a hacker  who is sucked into the computer and coerced to participate in gladiatorial contests. We experience a full-blown action thriller as we see the hacker use the help of a security program to escape the computer world. This movie has seemed to captivate all watches and has even emerged as a critic all-time-favorite movie by the use of its astounding and sharp sound-and-light technology.

1) War Games

You know you are a big enthusiast of computers when you shriek with excitement at the name of War Games! This action-packed movie is about a young hacker who accidentally breaks into WOPR, a supercomputer used by the military of the United States of America  used to foresee the outcomes of a Nuclear War. The movie emerges as  an amalgam of thrill, suspense and technological superiority as we see the protagonist confuse the WOPR with a computer game and plays it to almost initiate a World War III.
